Greek barista Christina Koumpouni triumphs in World Cezve/Ibrik Championship

Christina Koumpouni of Greece became champion for the first edition of the World Cezve/Ibrik Championship held at the SCAE’s Wonderful Coffee Cologne event in late June.

The light-hearted contest, which was successfully trialled last year at the SCAE’s Wonderful Coffee Copenhagen gathering, delighted its audience with displays of music, dancing, culture and humour all focussed around the cezve/ibrik brewing method favoured around the Mediterranean and southeastern Europe.

Reinhard Grebien of Austria was the runner-up in the Championship, with Aysin Aydogdu of the UK placing third.
