David Williamson

18th April 2008
It is with great regret that we must report the death on April 16 of David Williamson, managing director of Glasgow-based coffee roaster and supplier Matthew Algie. He was 42.
According to Matthew Algie, David passed away after a short illness. He leaves a wife, Morag, and five children, to whom we send our condolences.
David Williamson joined the family business in 1991 as marketing director, and in 1995, took over the role of managing director of SCAE Pioneer Member Matthew Algie in 1995. His passion and drive are credited with bringing the company through a period of unprecedented growth since that time.
He was also an outstanding advocate of ethical and sustainable development. "David was a dedicated supporter and believed deeply in helping coffee-farming families create a more sustainable way of life," Carolyn Fairman, executive director at Coffee Kids said. "But he was more than just a supporter, he was a dear friend who will be sorely missed by all of us."
