Germany is a target market for Gloria Jean’s expansion

6th February 2008
Australia-based franchised coffee shop chain Gloria Jean’s Coffees is looking to expand in a number of markets, including Germany, according to its chief executive Ian Martin.
India and China are also in focus for the chain’s expansion, Martin said in an interview conducted by German news agency Deutsche Press in early February.
Australian franchisees bought the rights to Gloria Jean’s worldwide, except for the US, from its American owners in 2004, and there are currently 698 Gloria Jean’s outlets, 450 of them in Australia.
The company’s strategy will be to penetrate existing markets rather than to go into new ones, Martin was quoted as saying.
