The coffee event for 2008—a sneak preview of an evening at a unique venue

10th October 2007
The SCAE’s Wonderful Coffee event, scheduled for June 19 to 22 in Copenhagen, is already looking like being the coffee event of the year in 2008. While the SCAE is working hard at getting top-notch educational workshops and an unmissable speaker programme ready, the event’s exhibition has already sold almost 60% of the booths available. Of course, the event will also include the World Barista Championship and four other world championships, all held in the beautifully restored Øksnehallen, which actually used to be Copenhagen’s central market for cattle and horses.
As the event is to run for four full days, the social programme for all 10,000 expected attendees and visitors is also likely to break records. The SCAE has already booked “Docken”, the Danish capital’s new “hang out” place, which overlooks the harbour entrance to the city. The building can hold up to 2,500 people for theatre performances and concerts and 1,200 people for dining.

The spectacular venue enjoys a unique atmosphere, thanks to an enormous artificial sand beach right in front of it. As the Wonderful Coffee event takes place just a few days from the midsummer celebrations, this special party will show off Scandinavia’s most seductive and fun-loving side.

“Docken” will be an unusually relaxing place for the Wonderful Copenhagen attendees to gather. It is already known as a venue that allows artists, musicians and theatre people to meet and present their creations to visitors. On the Saturday evening during the Wonderful Coffee event, it will be the place to celebrate the SCAE Awards for Coffee Excellence, enjoy a sumptuous dinner and then dance the evening away with a concert from a swinging soul band, the identity of which is still a well kept secret.
Of course, this fabulous evening is only one part of a major event, and you can also take part in the Conference, the Exhibition, the Competitions and the Workshops over four thrilling days. Whatever you do, don’t miss out on what is shaping up to be one of the most memorable coffee events ever!
