CROATIA BARISTA CHAMPIONSHIP 2008

Skola-espressa (www.skola-espressa.hr), with the support of SCAE Croatia National Coordinator Romeo Lambasa (www.peral.hr), organised together the 2nd Croatia Barista Championship at the Hotel Ambasador, Opatija, April 4 and 5, 2008.

The event brought together the important people in the coffee industry, but also admirers of this superior beverage. Distributors, caterers, equipment producers, accesories producers, representatives, importers and others in the coffee industries in Croatia and in the region all attended. They will had a chance to see spring in beautiful Opatija, exchange experiences and learn new trends.

Our wish was to create an event to attract all coffee lovers, but as well all people who just wanted to relax and enjoy coffee. The event was the right place to get to know the whole coffee making process, from roasting to tasting.

The head judge for the event was Willy Hansen of Norway, with James Hoffman of the UK, Andrej Godina of Italy, Zlatko Miletic and Romeo Lambasa of Croatia serving as technical judges. Anette Moldvaer of the UK, Fabrizio Polojaz and Fabio Giraldi of Italy were joined by Croatians Selimir Bajic and Nikica Siganto as tasting judges.

The winner of the Championship was Nik Orosi of Ellis Caffe in Zagreb, with 653 points. Zoran Trkulja of Mokint in Sibenik was second, with 608 points, and Domagoj Trusic of Caffematic in Rijeka was third with 586 points. -- Romeo Lambasa info@peral.hr, www.peral.hr
